What a nice Christmas I have been having. Not only do I get to spend time with my family, but I have also received some very nice gifts. I had mentioned how fun it might be to have one of those in-home helicopters. I have been working on creating one myself. Well, I did receive one and it is quite tiny, but amazing! It seems to have all of the make up of a larger helicopter. With the lights and blades spinning, there is no fear of damage to be done. It is very light weight and fairly easy to control. Why is it that cell phones get so warm when you're on them long periods of time?!? Ok, ok, I know why...but it's frustrating. I used to have a bluetooth headset and I'm strongly considering getting one again. After spending the last two hours on my phone, it's apparent that this is something I'm terribly in need of. It makes doing other things so much easier. Oh, the convenience of technology. I better get to shopping for one. This is something I may need by the holidays. -

I'm sure any gamer out there has heard about the xbox controversy with a man who is suing Microsoft after he found the console was scratching his game discs. Well now, they're in even bigger trouble because it has been shown that they may have known about this problem already...possibly before they even released the consoles into stores. They actually had solutions on how to fix the problem, but just hadn't yet. That doesn't look very good if you ask me. The sad thing is...their solution would have cost them very little compared to the trouble they are in now. More to come... -

Recently my sister and my parents both got a Wii. Neither had played it before, but after learning more about it they decided to take advantage of some of the deals going on lately. They have been playing quite a bit and atest to the fact that it's quite the work out. That's a new thought....gaming as a workout! Usually people think of gaming as being quite lazy...sitting there and moving your fingers. However...the Wii may add a new aspect to gaming that we've never seen before...not to this extent anyways. Do you ever feel like the ads you see online are a bit over the top? I felt this way when I saw an ad for Leptorexin. It seems as though they're calling it the "hottest" fat burner around, yet it's new so how do we know. I'm not trying to put it down in anyway...as it really may work great. I just think sometimes the claims are a bit unbelievable when it comes to a product like this. Who knows? I may try it one day and really like it. That could definitely be the case. Today made me realize that winter is officially here in the midwest. With temps below zero and winds blowing, I now know that it is time to start planning that vacation somewhere warm. I'd love to go somewhere for an entire week...but if I do it needs to be relaxing and warm. Of course I've been doing a lot of looking online and found a hotel in las vegas that I'm quite interested in. I think this would make for a great break, as there's a lot to do, yet it's relaxing at the same time. We'll have to see what I can all find for prices online and see. -

I don't know about you, but I hardly ever even watch the news anymore on TV. It seems all the information we could ever need is right here online. It's so much more convenient for me to look into what's going on in our world today as far as the news gos, weather and more. The convenience of technology is great, but it often does make me wonder where we'll be in a few years with things continuing to advance. Will we even have the News on television anymore? Having been out of school for a couple years now, I'm starting to realize some things about the real world that I had no clue about before. Much of it comes from my job and things like term life insurance, health insurance, etc. I was blessed to have much of that kind of thing taken care of by my parents while in school. However, now that I am out I obviously have it all as my responsible. I don't mind it...I just have to ensure that I make wise decisions with my money. There is a lot of responsibility as I continue to make it on my own and I'm appreciating more and more for what my family has done for me over the years. I learn much of what I need to know from people I work with or online, but I still always know that my parents have great recommendations for me also. Online shopping has become the thing to do this holiday season. It started off a bit slow, but many people are starting to pick up on their shopping sprees and gearing up for Christmas which is right around the corner. There are a lot of ads out there on TV that I don't mind. There are some for clothing stores, some for new products, and some for food items...however the ones that I'm not sure I see the point on being viewable by everyone watching are those sexy lingerie commercials. How about you? I think technology is a great thing, and I'm happy that they can use the television waves to market their services and products...however I'm not sure all parents would be happy to have their children viewing ads like these. Maybe it's just the protective uncle in me...I don't know?! -

I enjoy being on my computer in the evenings, but do not enjoy the backaches and headaches that come along with it. I sit on the computer all day at work and have really come to dislike the discomfort that I'm feeling. I have tried all sorts of things and so far the only thing that works is setting my computer up on the tv furniture that I have and sitting in a comfortable chair in front of it. My desk and office chair and far too uncomfortable...this is more relaxing and so far seems to be helping a bit. Anyone who loves playing games has probably heard of the game, Scene It, right?? If so, you may have also known that this game is a huge hit with the XBOX console fans! There's a version out there specifically for the Xbox 360 and from what I hear, it's quite the crowd pleaser! I've never played it on the Xbox before, but knowing how much fun the actual game is...I'm sure I'll really enjoy it.

Have you ever heard of IDUG before? I hadn't until just recently, but am very impressed with who they are what they're doing currently! They are a website that's sponsoring a new IDUG contest for developers. This can be anyone...a student, professional...even a hobbyiest! What they want to do is get people more familiar with XQuery, XML and DB2. There are five different levels, or what they call tracks that contestants can enter. You can enter one or all of them...it's up to you!
Interested in what these tracks are? Well...it's either a video, a gadget contest where a widget or gadget is created, the XQuery Challenge where you answer questions, the port an application track, and the develop an application. Turns out Cyber Monday was quite the hit when it came to shopping. This year we all expected the spending to slow down a bit, however Cyber Monday seemed to go quite well as confirmed by many articles that I've read. I think this is great. Maybe it's because so many people aren't wanting to spend the money on gas so they're finding new ways to shop?!? I know I'd rather shop online these days then head out and go to the store. -

Getting engaged is something I really look forward to...and a proposal is something that could be in the near future. Knowing this, I often enjoy looking around to see what some of my options are for engagement rings. I think I've come to the conclusion that platinum is the best choice. Wouldn't you agree?? I think it is the ideal precious metal for any engagement ring!! From what I've found, it's not only luxurious looking and timeless, but also very valuable, durable and 90% pure! I am only going to be proposing once in my lifetime, so I want to make it special. This is the person I will spend the rest of my life with...so a platinum engagemet ring is the only way to go. I only want the best for that special person in my life. Don't you?
Before doing research, I had no idea why platinum was the best choice. Now I know that it's beautiful, holds gems much more securely, doesn't fade or tarnish, and so many more wonderful things!! I'm excited to have finally made a decision on the type of ring I am going to get, now I just have to decide on which specific design I will buy. This is the most important piece of jewelry I will ever buy, so I want to put in much thought and consideration into buying it, that's for sure!!

I often enjoy watching the news online...as it's more convenient than waiting around for the news to come on at night. It's just another great reason why everyone should have access to the web. Unrelated to anything technological...the most recent news story I watched online was quite interesting...especially as someone who owns a cat myself.
A woman was outside in her backyard with her small dog and cat. The cat was playing on the ground as well as her dog. All of a sudden a bald eagle swooped down on top of her cat and carried it away with it. Most people don't think of anything like this ever happening but it is possible. It reminded me of a time when I was younger. A HUGE hawk came swooping down in our back yard and tried to pick up rabbit. The rabbit got away after my sister scared it...but there was fur and blood everywhere. It makes me more watchful when I have my cat out and about now, that's for sure! -

I love working on computers and am so thankful that this is what my job is most days each week. However...the one downfall to sitting behind computer desks all day is the backaches I get and the headaches I get from looking at the computer screen for long periods of time. I still haven't come up with a great solution to this problem. I find that over the counter pain relievers help a little bit, but I'm going to have to find something like a better chair that will help ease the pain with out having to take medication.Labels: Computers

Interesting news from Microsoft. It sounds like xBox sales on Black Friday did more than their share of sales. They not only outsold Playstation 3 consoles by 3 to 1...but they also had their best Black Friday sales day ever!! Pretty impressive. Now that I am an Uncle, I have learned many things...especially all the toys that are available out there. A year ago I had no idea what kinds of things were offered or what kids like...however as my little niece and nephew get older I can tell you that technology sure has come a long way since I was young. With the economy suffering, you'd think sales would have been at an all time low this past weekend. However, that was not the case. In fact, spending was up from last year. Not so surprisingly was the fact that the Nintendo Wii was the number one selling item this Black Friday! Tech sales are always high, and even with the financial crisis...this year was no exception. Many websites online reported that the Wii was the best seller. Right up there with the Nintendo Wii was the iPod Touch by Apple.
