Happy Holiday Weekend

This is a bit off topic, but I wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday weekend!! I hope that everyone is able to take a break from work and just relax and enjoy time spent with family and friends! I know that's what I'm going to do. I don't get the opportunity to just do nothing very often...so this weekend I'm going to do exactly that!! Life is too short to be working all the time! Hope everyone's weekend is wonderful!

The iPhone Girl

Had you heard the story about the "iPhone Girl" recently?? Supposedly there was a many in London who bought a brand new iPhone and when he received it there was a picture of a girl from the factory where his iPhone came from. I though this was pretty interesting, considering it was brand new. The story made sense though. Supposedly they take pictures and test out the phones. I guess that makes sense. More sense than it would if she had just been taking pictures on new phones for the heck of it. Since I have an interest in the iPhone, I found this to be quite interesting.

Shopping online has become one of the most popular things among people these days. With the busyness of life, who wouldn't want to take advantage of this easy way to save time and most times, save money. Each and every day I learn of more and more things that can be bought online. Recently, someone at work was telling me that you can actually by all kinds of medical supplies online. Whether it be blood pressure monitors or even baby stuff....it's all available at the click of a button! Isn't that great?!? Just another reason why I appreciate all that is offered by the web!

One of the things I like most about my current job is that I get to travel for business. Coming up I actually get to go to California, which I'm very excited about. I hardly ever used sites like YouTube until my little niece and nephew were born. Now I think technology like this is so great!! Not only can I post video that I've taken of them for others to see, but it's also such a great way for me to stay current on what they're doing. I'm glad each of their parents are so good to post videos. It really makes me feel like I'm not missing anything. Thank goodness there are sites like YouTube out there that make this so easy to do!

My girlfriend is finally back from her vacation in California. She's getting ready to go back to school, but was saying that she'd like to get a few new clothes before winter if possible. I thought it would be a good idea to go before the busyness of school, but nothing caught her eye. Me, being the internet kind of person...decided to go online and look. I have a friend who has been searching for a job for a long time. He wasn't sure how he was ever going to find the job of his dreams and asked me if I had any suggestions. Dependence on the Internet

I don't know what I'd do without my computer, let alone the internet. I depend on it for so many things. Whether it be online banking, e-mail, work stuff or planning luxury vacations.....it's something I can't imagine my daily life without. In fact, when my internet acts up or doesn't work correctly like this morning it has me wondering how I will ever get everything done in a day. I guess you have to go with the flow and do your best when this happens. It just got me thinking....

Side Note-Olympics 2008

This is kind of a side note, but as I've been working on the computer tonight I've been watching the Olympics. Have you been doing that the past couple of weeks? I typically don't get very into the Olympic thing, but this year for some reason it's really impressing me. I am amazed at all the olympic and world records that are being set. I don't know what everyone else thinks, but it's probably one of the best Olympics that I've ever seen.

Can you believe that we're already at the end of August?? It hardly seems possible, does it?! Wow!! It got me thinking today that soon we will be seeing Christmas items in the stores and it will be that time of year when everyone is out shopping. I don't know about you, but I would rather do my shopping from the comfort of my own home online, rather than having to go out and do it. The main day that I enjoy doing a lot of my Christmas shopping is Black Friday. The very best deals can be found on this day of the year...who would pass that up, right? Well, probably many people who don't want to hassle the crowds or have to stand in lines all day long. I'm thinking shopping online and getting the same great deals is a no-brainer! Don't you think??

They even send out e-mail alerts letting you know when all of the new, and great Black Friday ads have been posted. Isn't that awesome?!!! I love how the internet has given us such convenience, even in the world of shopping. I have a feeling this years Christmas shopping will be a piece of cake now. I will do all of my shopping and get the same great Target Deals as I would have if I went to the actual store and bought the items.

China Blocking iTunes

With the Olympics still going on we hear much news about China. However, one of the most interesting pieces of information that I heard today has nothing to do with the Olympics. Had you heard that iTunes have been blocked in China? Or so it is thought anyways. Supposedly there were customers in China who were unable to download iTunes this week. Their assumption is that China may be trying to block access to a new Tibet-themed album which came out?! Interesting how they can control such things as this, don't you think??

I've said many times how impressive our internet is today. No matter where you are, or what you're looking for...if you have internet access available to you...you're sure to find an answer. I don't know how many times I've relied on the internet to answer a question I was having?! Countless! How did we ever do without it?? I have no idea!

One great resource offered online is that of Heart Library. Being able to access health information online is one of the many great things about the internet. Heart Library makes that possible, by offering a wealth of information about the heart and heart conditions/diseases. In looking further into this site I found it to be very user friendly too. It's written in terms that we can understand...yet very reliably written by a Doctor. If you'd like to learn more about tachycardia or something else...this site truly has it all!

Facebook Going Mobile---Even Better!

I don't know about you, but I was never into social networking online until Facebook came along. At first I wasn't even impressed with that, but my family and friends encouraged me to give it a try. I'm really glad I did, as it's a great way to stay connected. I even get it on my cell phone which is great. What's great is that if I end up getting an iPhone, it sounds like there will be a new Facebook application for it coming soon. Have you heard that?? This new mobile version is supposed to be quite impressive...with a great deal to offer those into the social networking thing. So what will it offer that's so great? Well...real time status updates is one. Another is chatting availability. I'm anxious to see how it all works out....the end of September is supposed to be the time of update for it!

Much of what I do on a day to day basis is done online. My job, my communications, networking, design....even paying my bills. I also go online to find more information about financial planning now that I have a steady job that I plan to be with for quite some time. It's actually amazing to me all the information that is out there. Recently I came across BillsIQ which is a great place for those wondering what they know when it comes to finances and things along those lines. I took the little quiz and did fairly well. I'm sure I could have done better if I was more educated on topics such as mortgages, etc....but for my age and experience I thought I did ok. They have a wealth of information on their site concerning everything from loans to Credit card debt help. For me, there are many things in my future that will require careful planning like sending my children to college one day, retiring, and even buying a house...which probably won't be too far off. With all of these things that I will face, I'm glad that there is a site as helpful as this one. Now I know where to go with all my questions about mortgages, loans and consolidation!

Consumer in US are Buying Fewer Cell Phones

Our economy is affecting many parts of our lives. Many of us have to watch our spending, even when it comes to technology and the things we buy. I never really thought about it before, but recently read a report that stated consumers in the United States are buying fewer cell phones than they ever had before. Cell phones are a life line for many people, but they are making due with the ones that they have and not upgrading. Why do you think this is? I have a hunch. It's probably because cell phones have gone up in price, partially due to the amazing features they offer. While others are not spending simply because our economic concerns right now are keeping many people spending conservatively for the time being. I thought this was an interesting piece of research though and wanted to pass it along.

Today is a busy day at work. I was busy planning out my next few months for business trip and vacation purposes when all of a sudden I realized that December will be here before we know it. Stores are even starting to display items for Christmas already! That means Christmas time, my favorite holiday and time of year! With that comes a lot of planning as far as gifts are concerned. I want to make sure to get it done early so that I get the things I need. Photoshop Creations

As I've mentioned before...I really enjoy messing around on my MAC computer when I have free time. I especially like the photoshop options available to me on there. One thing I've been doing lately is trying to create a work of art for my sister. She has been working on redecorating some rooms in her home, and she told me that she'd like a really unique, modern piece for her kitchen. It's really fun to be creative and make something completely unique from anything else out there. If you have never used photoshop yourself...now is the time to start!

New Watch

My job typically requires me to be in my office at my computer most of the day. I don't mind my office, so this is alright with me. However, recently I had a clock that broke and I have been wanting something else besides just the clock on my computer. I finally decided that a watch would be the most helpful. That way if I'm out of the office and somewhere else....I always know what time it is. Of course knowing me and how much I enjoy shopping online, I went online and found some great Nautica watches that I'm trying to decide between.

New Cell Phone

Tonight my sister was telling me that she just ordered a SMT5800 cell phone. She's been wanting something with a better camera and this one has a 2.0 MP. She also wanted something that would help to organize all of the doctor appointments that my little niece has, as well as she and her husband too. I guess with the unique kwerty keyboard it makes this very easy. I'm glad that she finally Found something, she's been looking for quite some time.

The web is an amazing thing. I have found that no matter what I'm looking for....I can find it online!! Information has never been so convenient to us, and many of us forget how fortunate we are to have access to the Internet! I know I do. I was watching the news the other night and they were talking about how thankful many people are for the web right now in this slump that our economy is in. Why you ask? Well, the Internet offers people loan options and financing. Who couldn't use that right now?

Reliance on Cell Phones

Not all that long ago many of us didn't even have cell phones, now however....not only do we all have them.....but we couldn't imagine not having one. Sometimes I forget how much I rely on my cell phone until I have a problem and can't use it. This happened last night. My phone has really been acting up again.....it's not receiving calls, I can't make calls, and the LCD screen on the front isn't even working. Obviously this is a problem that I need addressed ASAP! It's been difficult not having access to my phone! Thankfully I can still use my BlueAnt in my car if I need to....but who wants to go sit in their car and talk on the phone every time?! Not me!!

Pros and Cons to Internet Use

The internet is such a great resource for so many things. However, I feel like it can also be a negative for those who are looking for products and services and have literally hundreds to choose from. Whether it be acne treatments or alcohol rehab programs....it seems that there are so many options out there nowadays and almost too much to choose from. I have found even with small things that I've been looking for in the past that the internet, although wonderful, can be quite overwhelming.

E-mail Service

Lately I've really been considering getting a different e-mail address. I have my work e-mail, which is great...however I don't give it out to a lot of people. That leaves me with a decision of who to go with. The e-mail I have now just isn't offering me the service I would like. I get hundreds of junk mail e-mails each day. If I miss a day of checking it....my inbox is flooded with diet pills e-mails and others like it. The junk mail filters do not seem to be helping either. Any suggestions on a reliable e-mail service.

Supplies For Your Pet Online

As I may have mentioned, i decided to get a new kitty recently. I am really enjoying having her.....but have found that she is quite a bit of work. Seeing how I am the type of person who enjoys being online more than I do out and about doing my shopping for her...I am currently looking for a site or service that allows me to order the cat items that I need for her. As many have probably read, at some point I would really like an iPhone. Since this is not something I have yet done, I decided I would do a little bit of research. To my surprise there are actually some very negative comments and research being done about the lack of security and poor battery life that it offers. Wow...the internet is sure being offered many places now a days. 10 years ago I would have never imagined that it would be offered wirelessly let alone on airplanes. That's right! Although this is something many of us might like to take advantage of, there will be a fee involved so we'll see how many people that detours. Another interesting news story that I came across also involved the word hackers in the headline. Apparently there were 11 people involved in hacking 9 retailers. They were involved in stealing and selling millions of credit and debit card numbers. It goes to show that even though technology is a wonderful thing...which I'm sure we would all agree....it has also caused many problems for us as well. It makes our private information more available to those whose hands we don't want on it.

Big Problem With Internet Design

I recently read some very interesting news, and wasn't sure if others were aware of it. There has been a major vulnerability in the Internets make up that was found. Basically this is making it easier for people to direct traffic to the websites that they want. The good news is that the problem has been addressed and is being worked on. I believe they are still working on figuring out who this has all affected, and who might still be at risk. It goes to show that there are hackers all around us...some who are very knowledgeable about the web and how it works. Updated information available as I get it...

As much as I enjoy technology and all the internet specifically has brought us today...you'd think that I would be really into the social networking sites out there today, wouldn't you!? As someone who is extremely interested in technology and all that it entails...the internet is something that clearly impresses me each and every day. I am currently still undecided on what cell phone I will be purchasing next. I had my heart set on the iPhone, but after doing a little research I'm just not sure it's the phone for me. There are others out there with similar capabilities that are far less expensive. If anyone has any input as to a good phone like this I am definitely open to suggestions. I'd like to get one soon and just can't decide.
